Key Technologies and Applications of Tumor Marker Rapid Tests: ELISA Empowering Precision Diagnosis and Treatment

Table of Content [Hide]

    What Are Tumor Markers?

Tumor markers are substances that are produced by cancer cells or by other cells of the body in response to cancer or certain benign (non-cancerous) conditions. They provide important information about cancer, such as how aggressive it is, whether it may be treated with targeted therapies, or how well a patient is responding to treatment.

Traditionally, tumor markers refer to proteins or other molecules produced at higher levels by cancer cells than by normal cells. These substances can often be detected in the blood, urine, stool, tumor tissue, or other bodily fluids of cancer patients.

In recent years, an increasing number of genomic biomarkers—such as tumor gene mutations, gene expression patterns, and epigenetic changes in tumor DNA—have also been classified as tumor markers.

Different tumor markers have been identified and are used in clinical settings. Some are specific to a single type of cancer, while others are associated with multiple cancer types. However, no single "universal" tumor marker has yet been found that can detect all cancer types.

Application of ELISA Technology in Tumor Research

In the field of biomedical research, Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is a highly sensitive and specific technique used for the quantitative detection of trace biomolecules such as proteins, hormones, and cytokines in complex biological samples. In oncology research, ELISA plays a critical role in tumor marker tests, tumor immune microenvironment analysis, and evaluation of treatment responses. Key advantages include:

    • High Sensitivity: ELISA can detect extremely low concentrations of target molecules, typically in the range of pg/mL to ng/mL.

    • High Specificity: Based on the specific antigen–antibody binding principle, ELISA assays have minimal interference from non-target proteins, ensuring accurate detection.

    • Accurate Quantification: Using known standards and calibration curves, ELISA provides not only presence/absence results but also precise quantification of biomolecule concentrations.

    • Good Reproducibility: With standardized protocols and formats, ELISA results are highly reproducible, supporting reliability and consistency in experimental and clinical settings.

Product Recommendation: Hotgen Tumor Marker Assay (ELISA) Kits

In the field of tumor marker rapid tests, Hotgen has developed a series of ELISA kits that are widely used in clinical research and laboratory diagnostics. These kits are known for their high sensitivity, high specificity, minimal inter-batch variation, and user-friendly operation. Hotgen tumor markers ELISA kits support the detection of a wide range of tumor markers, including CEA, CA125, CA153, HE4, CYFRA21-1, PSA, AFP, DCP, and GP73.

Whether for research applications or hospital-based clinical testing, Hotgen's tumor marker ELISA kits offer an ideal solution for achieving fast, accurate, and reliable diagnostic results.
